  1. physics and betrayal – hand in hand … this is mine.

    betrayal

two stable particles in a beer’d state,
    the warlock whispered excitedly,
    lean against me, protect me.

    he made a ceremony-
    wind swept, moon shined,
    autumnal pagan resonance’d.

    and she glowed
in the light and the confidence
    in her that he bestowed.

    but the state was transient,
    the collision sustained but
    for a moment in time.

    now, looking for the lean,
    she finds the warlock gone
    left only with atomic waste.

    • I see conjuring and atom smashing conceptually united in a Chicago barroom as a love (poem) gone awry. There are images of Merlin and McLeod meet the Ringworld Engineers. We often cannot choose our affections or our afflictions. Nor can we stuff our desires into a pocket a pull them out when it’s convenient. I recited the poem “Industriousness Betrayed” to the CMA-B leadership group in response to their complaint that kids were just not motivated. I told them that all were willing, but needed the outside force, the independent source which, in this case, might be the leadership group, themselves. At the next event, none showed. I’ll have to work on my inspirational speeches . . .
